Environment Protection (Inspection and Enforcement Authorities) Law

The Israel Environment Protection (Inspection and Enforcement Authorities) Law, 2011 (‘the Environmental Law’) (only available in Hebrew here) aims to protect, maintain and improve the quality of the environment and to prevent any harm to the environment and to public health, by defining and extending the inspection and enforcement authorities of employees of the Ministry of Environment Protection.

    Last Updated: July 30, 2019

  • Requirements

The Environment Law authorises the Minister of Environmental Protection to appoint inspectors for the investigation of violations of environmental laws, and provides such inspectors with supervision and enforcement authority.

In this respect, inspectors are authorised to request any person to provide identification and any relevant information and documents, conduct measurements, and take samples, as well as to enter facilities for the performance of their jobs.
